A rapidly developing Swiss sports brand is promoting RFID technology in its enterprise.
On is deploying the Nedap iD Cloud RFID platform in factories, warehouses, distributors, and stores worldwide, which will enable the company to track and track every item from source to consumer. The company’s goals for this implementation include improving warehouse and store operations, optimizing performance, and protecting products from unauthorized “gray market” sales.
Nedap’s RFID utilizes radio waves to achieve wireless recognition and tracking of objects, providing efficient data capture and real-time monitoring. On has decided to collaborate with Nedap to launch a pilot program to test its ID cloud technology. Positive results have been achieved in utilizing detailed project level data throughout the entire process, including manufacturing, sales, return processing, and loss prevention.
With the expansion of its business in the United States, On is deploying RFID based supply chain tracking for retail openings. On’s first US store began in December 2020, opening a technology enhanced flagship store in downtown Manhattan. Looking ahead, On also plans to open stores in Miami, Chicago, Austin, and Portland, Oregon.
“We have started implementing RFID in our supply chain to improve the accuracy of delivery cycle data and optimize inbound and outbound processes,” said Craig Foster, the technical leader of On, “This provides us with valuable insights into shipping expectations, origin, and distribution channels, supporting our commitment to excellent brand experience while also improving operational efficiency and sustainability. Choosing Nedap’s iD cloud technology is part of our long-term plan to provide end-to-end coverage and scalability.”
“We are pleased to be selected by On,” said Hilbert Dijkstra, General Manager of Nedap iD Cloud. “We believe that their unique forward thinking approach is the perfect foundation for their ambitious growth plan and has proven to be effective. We are delighted to be with them on this journey and look forward to helping them implement future use cases, such as data-driven product lifecycle insights from our iD cloud platform.”
